Waterproofing works were recently completed at the Il Castello Shopping Centre, one of the main commercial hubs in the city of Ferrara.
The project, which began in December 2023, was carried out by Isocaf S.R.L. and covered a total surface area of 15,200 m². It was structured into five operational phases agreed with the client and carefully scheduled to ensure uninterrupted operations at the shopping centre throughout the construction period.
The roof presented a high level of complexity due to the dense concentration of equipment, ducting, and skylights. This required meticulous planning in terms of both safety and logistics. Certain delicate operations—such as the demolition of the existing skylights—were performed during night shifts to minimise impact on the centre’s activities and ensure continuity of service for both retailers and visitors.
The intervention included the installation of a Broof T2-certified waterproofing membrane, designed to guarantee water tightness and fire resistance. The system was applied across the entire roof to ensure performance uniformity and long-term durability.
Isocaf also carried out the complete replacement of the skylights, adopting technical solutions that meet the highest standards of thermal insulation and natural daylighting.
This project stands as a concrete example of complex commercial roof waterproofing, where site management, technical execution, and operational continuity must coexist seamlessly.
