Shopping Center “Il Navile”
An intervention covering 13,500 square meters of ballasted roofing, carried out in a fully operational and complex environment where every phase required precision, method, and continuity. From the replacement of mechanical systems to the reorganization of technical areas, through to the installation of the new waterproofing membrane, Isocaf S.R.L. successfully completed the project at Il Navile Shopping Center in Bologna, launched in June 2025.
The works began with a complete roof remediation, including the removal and disposal of all existing ductwork and machinery. Once the surface had been cleared, we redesigned and reorganized the technical layout, positioning the new systems according to a functional and structured plan aligned with future accessibility and maintenance requirements.
As the roof was – and needed to remain – ballasted, the intervention proceeded through a systematic relocation of the stone ballast. The ballast was progressively removed from one section of the roof, allowing the installation of the new TPO waterproofing membrane, and then precisely repositioned before moving on to the next area. This process was repeated consistently until completion.
The construction site operated both day and night, with activities carefully scheduled to ensure uninterrupted operations within the shopping center and zero interference with ongoing business.
At the end of the project, we also replaced the skylight domes, installing new units.
This project reflects Isocaf’s operational approach: a roof completely rebuilt from scratch, without ever stopping what was happening below.
